Presentation Description / Summary: Lactobacillus sp. are ubiquitous in the environment and found in abundance in the equine stomach. Frequently, horses are administered gastrointestinal supplements containing Lactobacillus sp. in many probiotics products. This presentation will highlight the current evidence on Lactobacillus sp. and its role in as a supplement n Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS), The presentation will highlight the different Lactobacillus sp. that are available in various supplements and the current scientific evidence sowing efficacy as a supplement when given to horses with EGUS. Also, dosage and different supplements will be presented.

To familiarize the audience with the current scientific information on Lactobacillus sp. by highlighting various studies on use in gastric ulcer disease in horses and other species. 3. To present current information on what Lactobacillus sp. might be beneficial and the timing of administration to maximize it effectiveness.
