Dr. Mara Varvil is an assistant professor and ACVP board certified clinical pathologist at Washington State University. Originally from Southern Illinois, Dr. Varvil earned her DVM from the University of Illinois in 2016, completed a residency in clinical pathology and Master’s degree at Purdue University in 2019, and received a Ph.D. in comparative pathobiology from Purdue University in 2023 where her thesis evaluated the use of microRNAs as diagnostic tools in urothelial carcinoma. Her current research focuses on evaluating microRNA expression in pituitary adenomas in canines and felines. Outside of work Dr. Varvil enjoys spending time with her partner and their four animals (two dogs and two cats) exploring the Palouse.
