Tigilanol tiglate injection (STELFONTA®) The Science and a Surgeon’s Clinical Experience

Presentation Description / Summary: Treatment of canine mast cell tumors with tigilanol tiglate results in an expected local wound with variability in size and healing time dependent on several tumor and patient characteristics. Tigilanol tiglate has been shown to exhibit unique wound healing properties requiring a different approach to management. It is important that clinicians understand the science of wound healing as well as patient management to ensure good outcomes. Local wound assessment and management is only one variable to success. Arguably, effective analgesia to ensure recovery and patient mobility is vitally important. This presentation will use several cases to demonstrate tigilanol tiglate treatment wounds and variable aspects of patient management to ensure a successful outcome.
