Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
Poppy graduated from the Royal Veterinary College where she stayed on to complete a rotating internship followed by an ECVS surgical residency. Having completed this she moved to the University of Pennsylvania as a lecturer in 2014, receiving her ECVS diploma in 2015. In 2016 Poppy moved back to the UK and worked in a private referral hospital alongside helping to set up the RVC’s heart surgery programme. She undertook a further 2 year fellowship whilst there and then spent three years at DWR, Cambridge, UK setting up a new heart surgery programme.
Poppy has been passionate about cardiac surgery since she started her specialist training and has worked in several different hospitals, undertaken advanced training in both veterinary and human hospitals and participated in and led multiple research studies in order to progress this discipline in small animals. Poppy finds this area so fascinating as successful surgery makes a huge difference to the quality of life of both the patients as well as their owners, when for most of these conditions, no other option can. Poppy’s other main passion is advancing gender equality in the veterinary field.
