As associate professor and soft tissue surgery service chief at the University of Illinois, Dr. Phillips performs all types of soft tissue surgery. Dr. Phillips has expertise in surgical treatment of upper airway obstructions, specifically brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome in dogs and cats. She performs endoscopic-assisted laser treatment for upper airway obstructions in dogs and nares-altering procedures in dogs and cats, such as LATE and ala vestibuloplasty, procedures newly described for intranasal obstructions in small animals. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Phillips is an award-winning teacher. Her newest interests involve simulations for teaching and assessing suturing skills in students and the role of virtual reality in training students and surgeons.
