Dr. Heinze completed a residency in nutrition and a master's degree focusing on fatty acid metabolism in psittacine birds at UC Davis before taking a faculty position at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She is currently the Executive Director and Chief Academic Officer of the Mark Morris Institute and teaches small animal nutrition at veterinary schools throughout North America and the Caribbean. She's always had a soft spot for the more exotic small pets!
