Presentation Description / Summary: Recent research into type 2 polysaccharide storage myopathy (PSSM2) has identified a number of myopathies under this histopathologic description of a muscle disease. This presentation will cover genetic testing for PSSM2, forms of PSSM2 that cause exertional rhabdomyolysis and forms that are associated with Myofibrillar Myopathy. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders will be discussed as well as targeted treatments.
Learner Outcomes: 1) Select the optimal diagnostic tests to identify type 2 PSSM 2) Identify myopathies that fall under the histoplathologic description of type 2 PSSM 3) Select the appropriate management strategy for the form of type 2 PSSM
