Diet is a mainstay in the management of chronic enteropathies /IBD in dogs. In this session we will review the role of diet in inducing and supporting clinical remission and recovery in dogs with chronic enteropathies /IBD.  What diet/s should I use? How do I perform a dietary trial? How many trials should I perform? What drives food responsive enteropathies?  Dietary management of non-protein losing vs protein losing enteropathies. What outcomes can I expect?

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the importance and role of diet in inducing and supporting clinical remission and recovery in dogs with chronic enteropathies /IBD.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to understand current concepts in the etiopathogenesis and diagnosis of food responsive enteropathies / IBD.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to design and conduct dietary trials ind dogs with non-protein losing and protein losing enteropathies.
