Presentation Description / Summary: House officers (including interns, residents, and fellows) are veterinarians that are enrolled in a specialty training program. There have been recent efforts to improve house officer wellness within these training programs in order to foster a rich learning environment as well as encourage wellbeing for the future of veterinary specialty medicine. This presentation would take a deep dive into current stressors on this group of veterinarians and propose ways for training programs to further support these trainees.
Learner Outcomes: - Understand current stressors to house officers in specialty training programs. - Discuss ways to improve physical and mental wellbeing as well as work satisfaction for house officers. - Review current efforts that are being made on a local and national level to improve wellness amongst this group of veterinarians.
