Interactive case-based workshop in which we will review the approach to and selection of diets for assisted feeding in critically ill dogs and cats. The participant will be able to identify the nutritional factors of concern and use these to formulate the best diet based on the patient signalment, problems, and identified nutritional factors of concern. The workshop will also address how to troubleshoot when there are complications with either the tube or the patient.

Learning Objectives:

List nutritional factors of concern based on review of the patient's dietary history and problem list
Be able to select the most appropriate liquid diet or diet blend based on the nutritional factors of concern
Be able to troubleshoot feeding tube complications and understand basic concepts around changing the feeding tube plan when complications develop following implementation of the initial diet plan.
