Presentation Description / Summary: Feline acromegaly is characterized by excessive growth hormone secretion leading to a wide array of clinical signs caused by the hormones' effects on multiple organ systems. Utilizing a case based approach, this presentation will review the etiology/pathophysiology, history and clinical signs, diagnosis, and medical and nutritional management of feline acromegaly.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Understand the etiology of acromegaly. 2. Distinguish signs of feline acromegaly from feline Diabetes mellitus. 3. Communicate medical management to the feline owner. 4. Identify key nutrients involved in nutritionally managing feline acromegaly.
