Presentation Description / Summary: This presentation describes tips and pitfalls for performing balloon valvuloplasty in dogs with aortic valvar stenosis. Imaging modalites including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and fluoroscopy / angiography will be utilized to describe cases including procedural details and results.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Aortic balloon valvuloplasty in the dog is a feasible procedure that does not always result in significantly worsened aortic insufficiency 2. Methods such as ventricular tachypacing should be employed to minimize balloon movement during balloon valvuloplasty.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to establish a protocol for performing balloon valvuloplasty in dogs with aortic valvar stenosis
Upon completion, participants will be able to evaluate the benefits of using ventricular tachypacing for aortic balloon valvuloplasty
