Dr. Scansen is originally from Snohomish, Washington. He was on the faculty of the Ohio State University before moving to Colorado State University where he is currently Professor and Service Head of the Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Section. He has published over 250 original journal articles, book chapters, proceedings, and scientific abstracts related to cardiac disease in animals. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology and is a Founding Member of the Veterinary Interventional Radiology & Interventional Endoscopy Society. He lectures internationally on topics relevant to heart disease in animals. His clinical and research interests include congenital heart disease, advanced cardiac imaging with a particular emphasis on cardiac CT, and minimally invasive therapeutics for the heart and vasculature.
