Dr. Balakrishnan obtained her veterinary degree in India in 2009 and moved to the US to further her training. After a rotating internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison followed by an ECC residency at the University of Pennsylvania, she was board certified by the American College of Emergency and Critical Care in 2014. After several years in academic and private practice critical care, she currently works at the Veterinary Emergency Group where she is priviliged to help create educational programs for emergency clinicians. Her research interests center on sepsis and respiratory critical care, with a particular focus on the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
