Professor Matiasek is Head of Neuropathology at the University of Munich, where he runs a diagnostic laboratory specialised on identification and characterisation of neurological and neuromuscular disorders. His special interests are neuromuscular disorders, developmental diseases, neurooncology, emerging CNS infections and epilepsy pathology. On a regular base he runs neuropath rounds for neurology, pathology and diagnostic imaging residents and is a frequent presenter at international meetings and workshops as the American and European "Brain Camps". He is associate member of the European College of Veterinary Neurology and head of the pathology chapter of the International Veterinary Epilepsy Task force.
