Presentation Description / Summary: In this presentation the audience will dissect a case of a violative residue in a food animal presented to a veterinary teaching hospital, and become familiar with the investigation and action process. The principles of residue prevention will be discussed along with the regulatory concepts that drive surveillance as well as principles for avoiding a violative residue in a food animal patient.

Upon completion the audience will be aware of the comparative aspects of xenotransfusion.
Upon completion the audience will be aware of the risks of xenotransfusion in food animal species.
Upon completion the audience will be able to develop strategies for xenotransfusion for clinical cases as well as for consultation with food animal clients.
