Presentation Description / Summary: There has been increased recognition of the fibrinolytic pathway in cases of coagulopathy. This session will highlight a case example of a puppy with congenital hyperfibrinolysis to explore the pathophysiology of hyperfibrinolysis, review how hyperfibrinolysis is diagnosed and discuss the novel mutation which can cause hyperfibrinolysis in a non-sighthound breed.
Learner Outcomes: 1. Recall the steps of tertiary hemostasis 2. Recognize hyperfibrinolysis on viscoelastic testing 3. Identify when hyperfibrinolysis should be suspected as a cause of coagulopathy
Learning Objectives:
Recall the steps of tertiary hemostasis
Recognize hyperfibrinolysis on viscoelastic testing
Identify when hyperfibrinolysis should be suspected as a cause of coagulopathy
