A practical approach to toxicology in large animal practice will be discussed, including when to suspect a case of toxicosis, and a stepwise approach to diagnostics, and prevention of additional exposures. Case examples will be described, which will focus on developing a list of differential diagnoses, appropriate diagnostics, and management/treatments.
Learning Objectives:
Know when to suspect toxicities in large animal patients
Develop a diagnostic plan to identify suspected toxicities
Understand the essentials of herd outbreak management to prevent additional toxin exposure prior to making a definitive diagnosis
