Presentation Description / Summary: Morbidity & mortality case reviews, grand rounds, and debriefing can help veterinary professionals process loss. In this lecture, two cases will be studied taking into account both the medical review and psychosocial well-being of the staff involved.
Learner Outcomes: 1) Overview of imposter syndrome, compassion fatigue, burnout and the mental and emotional impact of working in veterinary medicine 2) Learn about medical review process, collaborative & reflective discussions, and debriefing approaches that can help process difficult cases 3) Review two cases that provided lessons with reflection, in order to help attendees learn how to bring these discussions back to their own practices.
